Types of water

Demineralized water

Description

Demineralized water is water that has been freed of its ions (cations and anions), having passed through ion-exchange resins.

Uses

Demineralized water is used in the laboratory when it is important to avoid the presence of its ions: this is particularly the case when these ions need to be measured precisely in various samples.

Pictogram information
In practice, we often speak of "deionized" water.
