HOW A SPECTROMETER WORKS

A polychromatic source provides “white” light which is extracted by a monochromator at the user’s desired wavelength. The intensity of the radiation is measured after it has passed through the analysed sample. This intensity is compared to a reference value. The output value is the result of this comparison.
