Potentiometric titration of base salts

ON WHICH PRINCIPLE?

Potentiometric detection:

Potentiometry is commonly used to make direct measurements of the analyte concentration to determine the titration end point. The potential of an electrochemical cell, which measures the junction potential that develops on either side of the interface between two electrolyte solutions of different compositions, can be used to monitor changes in the concentrations of a chemical species during the titration process. An equivalence point can then be determined by measuring the experimental variations in electrochemical potential when the reagent is added.

This titration therefore requires electrochemical concepts, in particular the redox potential.
