How is pipetting performed?

In analytical chemistry, the precise measurement of volumes is as important as the precise measurement of masses.

The precise measurement of a volume can be achieved with a pipette, a burette, a volumetric flask, or, for volumes in the microliter range, with a micropipette.

In order to get the most out of a pipette or micropipette, it is important to be familiar with its operating principle and good practice since the pipetting technique has a direct impact on the success and repeatability of experiments.

In each tab of this worksheet, you will be able to choose between a glass pipette and a micropipette.
