Determination of Cl- ions by colorimetric titration: Mohr’s method


Procedure

  • Sample 10 mL of the water to be analyzed and transfer it to a 100 mL beaker.
  • Add several drops of potassium chromate at 0.2 mol/L.
  • Dilute 4 to 5 times.
  • Stir.
  • Dose with a silver nitrate solution at 0.01 mol/L.
  • Stop dosing when the orange color of the silver chromate persists.
