Before analysis of the standard solutions, a blank determination is recommended (e.g. in spectrophotometry, distilled water will be used to set zero). The standard solutions must then be run in random order.

In case of possible memory effects between solutions, running the solutions in an ascending order of concentration would not reveal such effects – this is why a random running order is recommended.
