Description

A magnetic stir bar is a small utensil made of a magnet and covered with Teflon.

They come in different sizes. There are also oval-shaped ones.

Uses

A magnetic stir bar is used to stir a solution, proceeding as indicated:

1. Place the magnetic stir bar in the container containing the solution to be stirred.
2. Place the container on a magnetic stirrer, making sure that the magnetic stir bar is centered on the plate of the stirrer.
3. Adjust the stirring speed to ensure effective stirring without turbulence.
4. Once the stirring is over, retrieve the magnetic stir bar using a magnetized rod.
