HOW TO DOSE THE ACTIVE INGREDIENT USING THE ION PAIRS EXTRACTION METHOD?
This ion pairing technique has largely been used for pharmaceutical control for years.
The techniques have initially been developed for liquid-liquid extraction methods, with a view to improve the extraction recovery of some ionic species. The notion of ion pair has since been quickly adapted to spectroscopic (especially colorimetry) and volumetric assays of many acids and bases of pharmaceutical interest.
The principle of ion pair assay:
The pairs of ions are Coulomb associations between two ions of opposite electrical charge. Electrical charges imply that the solvent’s dielectric constant ε0, the distance between ions and the temperature will influence the ion pairing.
