Analysis of a spring water
Determination of Cl- ions with a selective electrode (potentiometry)
How it works
When the electrode is immersed in an analyte solution containing Cl– ions, the concentration of Ag+ ions varies because this concentration is directly related to that of Cl– by the solubility product constant of AgCl (Ks). This results in a potential difference (pd) between the external and internal membranes.
